Saša Markuš's Profile


Film theorist and critic from Serbia and Montenegro. After gaining a B.A. in Dramaturgy, she got her M.A. in Filmology from the Belgrade University of Arts. She was awarded an A.S.D. (Advance Studies Diploma) in Audiovisual Communication by the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.
Ms. Markus wrote La poética de Pedro Almodóvar (Pedro Almodóvar’s Poetics), published by Literra, Barcelona, 2000 (original edition in Serbian: Stubovi Kulture, Belgrade, 1998) and contributed to a number of books about modern cinematography (Svetlo u tami, Belgrade, 1991, 1994 y 2003; Kad budem mrtav i beo, Belgrade, 1995; etc.). She has published essays in various magazines (Alexandria, Fragment, Transversal, etc.) and for more than fifteen years had been assigned for writing periodical film reviews by the media in Serbia-Montenegro (Vreme, Dnevni Telegraf, RTS, Treci kanal...).
She is a researcher at the Pompeu Fabra University and in charge of the Casa del’Est’s Film Section. Ms. Markus is also the editor-in-chief of the Cineasta magazine.
